RUSSIAN PRIMITIVISM AND PRIMITIVIST ARTISTS – BUY PAINTINGS ONLINE AT ARTRUSSIA GALLERY

Generally speaking primitivism (naive art) makes up a style, which stands out for its simplicity, clarity and formal frankness of the pictorial language. The representatives of the primitivism are usually non-professional painters, who received no special training but just felt the need to create and realize their artistic potential themselves. Among the most famous ones are Henri Rousseau and NikoPirosmani, who managed to create some really outstanding naïve art paintings and add their names to the list of the most talented masters of all time. From one point of view, its sincerity and mode of representation brings naïve art near to children’s painting, but from the other – to the one of mentally ill people. Because of the fact that the primitives are not constrained by any academic rules and stereotypes, their work is notable for its freshness and spontaneity. The subject matter usually comes straight from the artist’s imagination or is borrowed from folklore, mythology or the tales of the surrounding reality. The outcome of it is the creation of amazingly poetic and sublime images, which are filled with harmony and purity, some kids-like innocence, which can wake up very warm feelings inside even a stone-cold heart.
