From February 9 to March 10, the Eastern Pavilion of the Mikhailovsky Castle hosts the educational and exhibition project “Modulations: Light, Sound, Movement,” created by the State Russian Museum together with the Art & Science Center of ITMO University. It features audio and visual objects to explore human psychophysiology, deconstruction of technological objects, and much more.
The halls of the Eastern Pavilion display objects of contemporary artists developing the Art & Science direction: interactive and immersive installations, light and sound objects. The objects of the exhibition project appear as forms of scientific and technological experience that blur the boundaries between the audio and visual environments.
The exhibition consists of works by Nadezhda Bey, Kira Weinstein, Nikolai Golikov, Kira Gorshkova, Oleg Gudachev, Ekaterina Kulakova, Maria Kuptsova, Alexandra Mikhailova, Marina Muzyka, Andrei Svibovich, Daria Smakhtina, Alina Fedotova and other authors. These artists present the results of their research into the synergy of art, science and technology - from working in the laboratory with scientists to researching electronic media and artificial intelligence. Thus, visitors will learn what mushrooms sound like, what sculptural casts of human emotions look like, and will also take a sound journey along the paths of the Antarctic oasis.
