On the last day of the Munch exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery, the queue lined up almost from the subway. No tents of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the demolition of the doors, the field kitchen with a free distribution of porridge, as was the case at the Serov exhibition, of course, was not observed. Still summer. Standing under a gloomy July sky is still not three or four hours in the cold. For some reason, no excitement happened at no less large-scale exhibitions of Aivazovsky and Repin. But the gloomy Norwegian genius Munch stirred our fellow citizens, especially young ones. The exhibition space in the Engineering Building of the Tretyakov Gallery is much smaller than in the New Tretyakovsky building on Krymsky Val. Accordingly, the number of potential visitors is much more modest. Electronic tickets quickly flew away, but all the hungry Munch had the opportunity to take a live queue.

At first, the queue was not gigantic, and it was possible to get to the museum without extreme sports. But we are always trying to jump into the last car of the departing train. Closer to the final, the influx of visitors increased dramatically, and the Tretyakov Directorate mercifully extended the exhibition for several days, set an extended schedule - up to 23 hours. As in the case of Serov, when the knowledge of many visitors was limited to "A Girl with Peaches", now many came for the sake of "Scream". Other works of Munch, inspired by illness, madness and death - the black angels at the cradle of the artist, as he himself said, people did not know. But they were all shocked - a green-faced killer, a self-portrait of a naked artist and the impressive facts of his life. The people did not lose time in queues: they read, talked on the phone, ate, drank, listened to Munch's audio collections. Some stocked folding chairs. Having stood for a couple of hours, someone could not stand, deciding to go to Oslo and already there to see Munch. But we still have to catch a collection traveling around the world. And besides, no one guarantees you that there you will not have to defend the situation.
