Chronologically, the exhibition collection “Treasures of Russian Museums” covers the period from the 17th to the second half of the 20th century and includes works by key Russian artists (from icon to social realism), collected from various parts of the country.
The curatorial group of the project, headed by ZI I. Tregulova, general director of the Tretyakov Gallery and which included gallery employees, as well as specialists from the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Center and experts from the Patriarchal Council on Culture, presented the history of Russian art in all its diversity.
The main theme of the exhibition was the indestructible unity of the cultural space of the country.
Preparation for the exhibition was a continuation of the tremendous work of curators to identify the "pearls" of regional collections. The exhibition clearly demonstrates the artistic treasures of the Russian province. Masterpieces have passed special training and scientific description.
The exhibition presents all genres of painting: portrait (front, provincial), landscape (from north to south of Russia), historical paintings and genre scenes. The variety of names and works give visitors the opportunity to follow the phased development of national art.
In the years 2019-2020, the cycle of expositions is planned to continue. There will be exhibitions devoted to Russian and Western European art.
The exhibition was prepared by the Patriarchal Council for Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
