Sotheby's will show in Moscow the masterpieces of the upcoming auction in London and New York

The exhibition of top lots of the auction house auction house Sotheby's, which will be held in London and New York in the near future, will open at the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow on April 24 and last for three days. Visitors can see works by Ivan Aivazovsky, Kazimir Malevich, Marc Chagall, Igor Larionov, William Turner, Peter Bruegel Jr. and other masters.


The exposition includes top lots of Russian trades, which will be held in London on June 4, as well as the New York day trades "Impressionists and Art of the XX Century" (May 15) and London evening trades "Old Masters" (July 3).


Among the top lots of the Russian auction "Still Life" by Mikhail Larionov (estimate 1-1.5 million), "Portrait of Count Alexei Ignatiev" Boris Kustodiev (£ 250-350 thousand), "Portrait of Ai" Nikolai Feshin (£ 60- 80 thousand). Also at the exhibition you can see the canvas "Escape from the Ship" by Ivan Aivazovsky (£ 200-300 thousand) - the last time this painting was publicly put up for auction in 1985.


Another top lot of Russian trading in London - "Pine" by Ivan Shishkin (£ 50-70 thousand). Pines is one of Shishkin's favorite motifs, to which he returned again and again while working in the open air.


Top-lots of trades "Impressionists and Art of the 20th Century" were also brought to Moscow. This is the "Parisian landscape in blue" by Marc Chagall, whose starting price is $ 1.2-1.8 million. Chagall finished work on this painting in 1967, already being a world-famous artist. On the canvas is his wife Bella, whom he fell in love with at first sight, and Paris is his favorite city.


Estimate of the painting "Two Peasant Women" by Kazimir Malevich - $ 0.8-1.2 million. The canvas enters Malevich’s second peasant cycle in the late 1920s.


Sotheby's evening auction will be held in London on July 3. Among the top lots - "Walton Bridges" by William Turner (estimate 4-6 million). This landscape is considered one of the most important canvases created by the artist in the last ten years of life. This picture is put up for auction for the first time in more than 35 years.


Also at the auction will present the "Winter Landscape with a Trap for Birds" by Peter Bruegel the Younger. The initial price of the lot is £ 1.5-2 million. This is one of the most famous canvases in the history of Western art. Another top lot of the upcoming auction - "Penitent Magdalen" Gerard Dow (£ 0.8-1.2 million). The artist - a student of Rembrandt, the founder of the Leiden school of "exquisite painting."


Sotheby's - one of the oldest auction houses, which, together with Christie's, occupies 90% of the market for sales of antiques and art objects in the world. Founded in 1744 in London by bookseller Samuel Baker as a closed club for aristocrats.
