The first exhibition in St. Petersburg of paintings by the famous traveler Fyodor Konyukhov opened on Thursday in the Russian Museum.
The exhibition presents about 50 paintings and drawings of different years, as well as a specially created museum documentary film about the work of the artist Konyukhov.
During the opening ceremony at the Mikhailovsky (Engineering) Castle, the traveler, who is currently going on a rowing boat to Cape Horn, contacted the guests by satellite phone.
"I am very glad that I have an exhibition in the Russian Museum. When I was still studying, when Leningrad was still, I went to the Russian Museum, but I never imagined that my works would be shown here. For me it is a great honor as an artist "- said Konyukhov.
He also noted that he would definitely visit the exhibition in St. Petersburg on his return from this trip, which, in his estimation, will last about another month. "Of my expeditions that I have done, this is the most difficult. Here every second, every minute everything changes. Thank you for watching my works," he said, addressing those gathered at the opening day.
Traveler and painter Fyodor Konyukhov is a graduate of the Bobruisk Art School with a degree in incruster, since 1983 he is a member of the USSR Union of Artists, as well as a member of the Moscow Union of Artists and Sculptors, an honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAX), who was awarded the Gold Medal of the RAX. In total, Konyukhov created more than 3 thousand works and repeatedly participated in Russian and international exhibitions.
The exhibition of paintings by Fyodor Konyukhov will be available for visiting at the Mikhailovsky Castle on June 10.
