A retrospective exhibition dedicated to the works of Zurab Tsereteli, opened on Tuesday in the British capital.

The exhibition entitled "More than life", which was the first major retrospective of Tsereteli in the UK, is timed to the 85th anniversary of the author, who celebrated the anniversary of 4 January. The exhibition is held in the prestigious London Saatchi Gallery. The exhibition features about 100 paintings, sculptures, books with drawings, enamels.

The exhibition, organized by independent art consultant and curator Herve Mikaelov, demonstrates the results of Zurab Tsereteli’s creative career, including works influenced by his long-standing meetings with artists, including Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso and Robert Rauschenberg. Visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to watch archival videos on the life of Tsereteli.

"Art does not interfere in politics"

“Now I go here and I don’t even remember many works, I have already managed to forget them. This exhibition is my face. Now, when I returned, and look at it, I understand that I will continue art for art,” said the artist in conversation with a Tass correspondent.

At the same time, Tsereteli, who in 1989 opened a 4-meter monument in London called “Break the wall of distrust,” chose not to talk about political issues. In response to the question of whether the time had come to create a monument with a similar name in the British capital, considering how low the relationship between Moscow and London fell to, the artist said: "Art does not interfere in politics, it is separate. That is why I do not interfere into politics and don't even know what's going on. "

The exposition in Saatchi will open to the general public on January 23 and will be valid until February 17. Personal exhibitions of the author, dedicated to the anniversary, will also be held in 2019 in Baku, Paris and Liechtenstein.
