Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets and head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Alexander Kibovsky opened on Wednesday the jubilee exhibition of the largest photo-research of the country Best of Russia - 2017 ("The best photos of Russia - 2017") in the Contemporary Art Center "Winzavod", TASS.


"In ten years, a virtually new culture has been formed, a new culture of photography, a new culture of participation in such photo contests and a new culture of presenting these photos," the Holodec said at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.


She added that while watching the photos, she saw many touching frames, which are valuable memories of important events in the country. "This is the life of the country in all its hypostases: happy families, and not very, healthy, sick, beautiful and spiritually beautiful." And the exhibition is amazing in all its diversity, "the vice-premier noted.


According to Kibovsky, photo contest is one of those public projects that acquire state significance. "This exhibition is special, we see a retrospective of the events that took place ten years ago, in these photographs the whole chronicle of our fatherland in ten years." It is not for nothing that they say that photography is the most reliable way to fix time, fix reality, "said the head of the department of culture Moscow.

Visitors will be able to see the works of the winners of 2017 and the 100 best photos of Best of Russia in ten years. The project could be attended by both famous and novice photographers.


In the competition in 2017, works in the nomination "People, Events, Everyday Life" and in the special theme "Jubilees" took part. The 205th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, the 60th anniversary of the Russian cosmonautics, the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution, the Moscow-870 festival, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Aivazovsky, key political, cultural events and personal jubilees of the heroes of photographs are the focus of photographers.


The expert council of this year included the president of the Foundation for Support of Contemporary Art "Winzavod" Sofia Trotsenko, the Pulitzer Prize winner and World Press Photo James Hill, the director of the photographic service of the Kommersant publishing house Pavel Kassin, the chairman of the board of directors of the photo holding Pro Lab Nikolai Kanavin and others.


Over 10 million people visited the Best of Russia exhibition for ten years, almost 300,000 photographs and tens of thousands of authors took part in the competition. The youngest participant of the project is six years old, the adult is 92 years old.


The main photo exhibition of the country in different years was presented in Paris, Riyadh, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Perm, Yekaterinburg and Ulyanovsk.

 

For the audience, the exhibition will be available until May 13.
