The new museum space "Studio 40. Memorial workshop of Peter Konchalovsky" was opened on December 21 in Moscow on the Garden Ring. The opening ceremony was attended by two grandsons of the artist - director Andrei Konchalovskaya and film director Nikita Mikhalkov.

"I would like this workshop to become the center of attraction for people who are concerned with the history of fine art, the history and culture of the Russian avant-garde," Andrei Konchalovsky said.

Workshop of Peter Konchalovsky is located in a house on the Garden Ring near Triumfalnaya Square, in the entrance, where Mikhail Bulgakov lived. In this room the Konchalovsky family lived since 1910. Members of the avant-garde art association "Knave of Diamonds" (the association arose after the notorious exhibition of the same name, its participants pursued the idea of overcoming the academic tradition - TASS commentary), whose chairman was Pyotr Konchalovsky, gathered here.

In this room, according to Andrei Konchalovsky, great cultural figures of that time came: pianist Vladimir Sofronitsky, poets Sergei Yesenin and Velimir Khlebnikov. "This is rather a museum of Russian culture of the early 20th century, and we hope that within a couple of years we will be able to create here such a small" channel "that will give many ideas and enriching information to visitors," the director said.

In turn, film director Nikita Mikhalkov noted that for him the main thing is that the museum, where his grandfather lived and worked, "kept the spirit of the house, the communication of different people, filled with incredible thoughts and great talent." "My wish is that this museum was a smaller museum, and more a home in which you want to come," said Mikhalkov.
