A large-scale retrospective of Nicholas Roerich, the Oriental Museum noted the opening of a new branch and the end of litigation with the International Center of the Roerichs. The exhibition "Nicholas Roerich, Climbing" for the first time will demonstrate all the creative stages of the artist's life.

The exhibition included about 190 works, which the museum divided into several sections. The pre-revolutionary stage of Nicholas Roerich's work is connected with life in the Russian Empire, when he was an academician and director of the Drawing School of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts. The second stage occurs in the years 1917 - 1920, when the Roerich family found themselves in Finnish emigration and Nikolai Konstantinovich was forced to seek new directions and vital bearings for his creativity. Another exhibition hall is devoted to the American period of the artist, when Roerich was invited to the US for lecturing and holding exhibition

Works for the exhibition, which will last until January 17, 2018, are provided by the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of the East and the Museum of Nicholas Roerich in New York. Within the framework of the exposition program, it is planned to hold lectures devoted to the life and work of Nikolai Roerich and his family members.

The Moscow Arbitration Court on March 20 satisfied the claim of the Museum of the East on the eviction of the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) from two buildings in the center of the capital, before the revolution belonged to the Lopukhins family. Later, on April 4, the Moscow City Court found lawful the decision of the Federal Property Management Agency to transfer to the State Museum of the Arts of the Peoples of the East the former Lopukhins estate, adopted in 2015. On April 28, the ICR was evicted.
