Buddha made of bronze, gold, stone or wood, many of which were created more than two thousand years ago, they will be put on public display Saturday at the exhibition in the German city of Völklingen (Saarland Federal). Most of the 230 exhibited statues are displayed to the public for the first time, reported the DPA agency.
Exposure Survey Visitors begin with the most ancient Buddha images, gradually reaching today. The exhibits were brought to Germany from private collections in India, China, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal and other Asian countries. Most of the sculptures show Buddha in the posture for meditation.
"This exhibition is dedicated to the art of Buddhism - the largest ever conducted", - says Maynrad Grevenig, CEO of the industrial museum, which will house a statue of Buddha. This cultural institution in the city appeared in 1986 in the shops closed down steel plant.
Visitors to the exhibition, if desired, can not only see all the statues, but they themselves do meditation, for which one of the rooms is decorated in a Buddhist temple.
The total value of the exhibits is estimated at about € 2 million.
Exhibition in Völklingen will last until February 19, 2017.
