The opening of the branch of the French Louvre museum will take place in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on November 11, 2017, the director of the branch Mohamed Khalifa Al-Mubarak said on the air of the RTL radio station.


"The Louvre of Abu Dhabi will open its doors for visitors on November 11, 2017. We want to open it at the best time of the year in Abu Dhabi, we are going to organize dances, concerts, shows, conferences with classical and contemporary artists to celebrate the birth of the first universal museum in the Middle East, "Al Mubarak said.


According to the radio station, the opening of the branch is also an important political event: exactly 10 years ago, Paris and Abu Dhabi signed a 30-year project for the creation of the Louvre in the UAE. That's why French President Emmanuel Macron will be present at the opening of the branch.


According to the correspondent of the radio station, the Louvre branch of about 86 thousand square meters is located on the island of Saadiyat. In the collection of almost 700 works of art, some of which were provided by the UAE government, some were transferred to French museums.


According to Al-Mubarak, the museum will attract visitors not only with a permanent exhibition, but also with cultural events - concerts and conferences, which are planned to be held there.
