In the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts, an exhibition of works by Isaak Levitan from the collection of the State Russian Museum and the Vasily Polenov Museum-Reserve was opened. The exposition presents 28 landscapes.
"The great poet of nature," as his colleagues called him, continued the work begun by his predecessors in this genre, and he himself supplemented the existing notion of him.
"Levitan is great in that he was able to connect the lyric with the epic" - one of the artist's colleagues knew. "The great poet of nature" continued his predecessors and went on to the goal unattainable in his presentation.
"For me, Levitan is Bunin in painting, because here is such a sadness, a little sadness, even in the sunniest works, attention to imperceptible details - this is very characteristic of the Russian character," said the deputy director for scientific work of the State Museum-Reserve VD Polenova Natalia Gromolina.
The master of the landscape lived a relatively short life, but left behind a great creative legacy. His works can be found even in the remotest museums of our country. In Kaluga, paintings by Isaak Levitan are exhibited for the first time in such quantity. The exhibition is open to all those who wish to see the exhibition before November 12 at the Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts.
from August 23 to November 12, 2017.
