In Moscow, there will be another picture gallery - by the name of the People's artist Vasily Nesterenko.
Artist Vasily Nesterenko will donate to the city of Moscow a triptych "Echoes of the Last War", pictures "Shore of Salvation", "Evening Prayer" and many other works at the opening ceremony of the State Art Gallery named after him, which will be held on August 24, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Culture .
Vasily Nesterenko, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, graduated from the Surikov MGHI. His first exhibition took place in 1991, since then he has been active in exhibition activities. Nesterenko's works are in many Russian and foreign museum collections. Wide popularity to the artist brought historical canvases and temple paintings.
"On August 24, the opening ceremony of the State Picture Gallery of Vasily Nesterenko will take place at the Chekhov House, where the People's Artist of Russia, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts, will donate a collection of his works to the city," the press service said.
The department specified that the collection will be a triptych "Echo of the Last War", which reveals the artist's contemporary view on the problems of continuity of generations, paintings on monastic life on Mount Athos, paintings "Shore of Salvation", "Evening Prayer", "Iviron" and others.
"In addition, Vasily Nesterenko will donate to the city the cardboard paintings of the church of St. Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon in Old Rus, a sketch of the painting of the Throne Hall of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, painted by a team of artists led by Vasily Nesterenko to the 2000th anniversary of Christianity," the press service added.
This year, Nesterenko celebrated his 50th birthday. In honor of this event in Moscow and St. Petersburg, extensive retrospectives of his work were held. In addition, the Moscow State Picture Gallery Vasily Nesterenko received a gift exhibition hall "Chekhov's House" at Malaya Dmitrovka for an exhibition of the artist's works.
