August 12 at the Darwin Museum opens the exhibition of Zhostovo painting "Flowers and Birds".
The exposition has got such name: not casually: a flower bouquet is the basic motive of Zhostovo list - Russian national art craft. In the 19th century Zhostovo painting was used to decorate metal trays. And in 1922 in Novoseltseva (Moscow region) was organized a whole artel to produce iron lacquered trays, created by Zhostovo masters. Their works combine a realistic sensation of a living form of flowers with a decorative generality inherent in the Russian folk carpentry. Zhostovo masters usually make a painting on a black background (sometimes - on red, blue, green). Often the master works directly on several trays.
At the exhibition in the Darwin Museum, the work of the honored artist of Russia Marina Domnikova, the master of the Zhostovo painting, will be presented.
The exhibition will be open until November 12, 2017.
