Experts will discuss at the round table in Kaluga the concepts of "modern" and "contemporary" art and express their opinions on the relevant July circular of the Ministry of Culture.
At the end of July, the Ministry circulated a circular letter on the delineation of the concepts of "actual" and "modern" art. The document was compiled on the basis of the expertise of the State Institute of the Russian Language named after Pushkin and the Russian Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage named after Likhachev.
The round table will be chaired by the Minister of Culture of Russia, Vladimir Medinsky. The director of the State Institute of Art Studies Natalia Sipovskaya, the rector of the Moscow State Academic Art Institute Surikov Anatoly Lyubavin, the head of the Russian Ballet Theater Vyacheslav Gordeev, the rector of the GITIS Grigory Zaslavsky and others will also participate in it.
The deputy director of the Likhachev Institute, Yevgeny Bakhrevsky, who will also take part in the discussion, told RIA Novosti that the last two decades of the concept of "actual" and "modern" art were not treated correctly.
"We believe that ... these terms should be understood in a way that is inherent in the normal contemporary Russian literary language." Contemporary art is the art that is created by our contemporaries, whatever the direction of the art and style in which they work. "We understand contemporary art as an art that Has a great social significance, which is important for society.This is the discussion, these topics will be raised, "the scientist said.
He added that the discussion is necessary in order to listen to the opinions of specialists from different areas of art.
Medinsky will also visit the recently opened Innovation Cultural Center in Kaluga and visit the center of the Ugra National Park, get acquainted with the construction of the Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics.
