People's artist Ilya Glazunov died at the age of 87

The famous Soviet and Russian cultural figure, People's Artist Ilya Glazunov died at the age of 87 years.

He passed away on the night of 9 July. As the daughter of master Vera Glazunova told, he died of heart failure. The date and time of the funeral are not yet known.

Patriarch Kirill expressed his condolences to the painter's family and friends.
Ilya Glazunov - one of the most famous Russian artists, set designer, book illustrator, author of more than three thousand works. He founded the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. His gallery and the Estate Museum were repeatedly visited by President Vladimir Putin.

People's Artist of the USSR, a member of the Academy of Arts of Russia and the Royal Academies of Fine Arts of Madrid and Barcelona. He was awarded the gold medal "For Contribution to World Culture and Civilization" (UNESCO), the Order of the Monk Sergei Radonezhsky and the Reverend Andrey Rublev, the full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
