The exhibition in the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum for the 150th anniversary of Maxim Gorky will show portraits of the writer and illustrations for his literary works.
Although the anniversary of one of the most significant Soviet-era writers will be celebrated only next year, the exhibition will be shown to the commemorative date already now: it will open to the public on May 18. The name of the exposition is "Maxim Gorky. The reference point "also refers to the venue (where else is the jubilee exhibition to be held, if not in the writer's native city?), And to its content. In the first introductory section, visitors will be able to learn about the early years of Maxim Gorky (then Alexei Peshkov), his emergence as a writer and events that became the basis for future literary works. Accompany the story of the writer's life will be an illustration of his works by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Arkady Plastov and others. Here, visitors who downloaded the Artefact Augmented Reality app (links to downloading for Android and iOS) will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Nizhny Novgorod at the end of the 19th century thanks to additional archival materials and photos. The second part of the exhibition will show Gorky through the eyes of his contemporaries-artists, with many of whom he was personally acquainted and even friendly, - the audience will see fragments of correspondence and memories of them. In this block there will be a portrait of the writer Valentin Serov, who will come from the museum. Gorky Academy of Sciences, paintings by Isaak Brodsky, Nikolai Bogdanov-Belsky, Mikhail Nesterov, Vasily Shukhaev, Boris Grigoriev, Yury Annenkov and others.
