An exhibition of masterpieces of Orthodox art from the Tretyakov Gallery will be held in the Vatican

The works of Russian art, including the spiritual, from the Tretyakov Gallery will be presented in 2018 at the Vatican, the exhibition will be held in the framework of spiritual and cultural cooperation between the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, Patriarch Kirill said.


Patriarch hopes that the exhibition will help many in the Vatican "to understand and feel the spiritual tradition of Russia." He also called the exhibition of masterpieces in the Vatican Pinakothek Tretyakov huge contribution to the cultural and spiritual ties of Russia and Italy, which allowed many people, including Orthodox religious tradition to understand.


These projects, he said, carried out within the framework of the cult of cooperation between the Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches and are directly related to their bilateral relations. The development of this served, including Patriarch meeting with Pope Francis February 12 in Havana.
