State Museum of Fine Arts. Pushkin and Spanish La Caixa Foundation on February 15 signed a memorandum of cooperation, which involves the exhibition "Pablo Picasso and Olga Khokhlova" in the Pushkin Museum in October 2018.

As the name implies, the exhibition will be dedicated to the great artist and the famous Russian ballet dancer, who became his first official wife. The exhibition will trace the development of their difficult relationship, reflected in the works of masters - from portraits filled with warm (first ballerina image simply as a lover, then as the mother of their son Paulo) to tragic surrealist works. The museum notes that the story of Olga Khokhlova is closely connected with the Pushkin Museum: in the 1920s dancer would send to their relatives in Russia a lot of photos, and now this unique collection is stored in its funds.

The project is being prepared in collaboration with the Picasso Museum in Paris - the world's leading institution that has been studying the heritage of the artist. In addition to paintings and drawings from the Paris museum, the exhibition will add items from other foreign museums (not yet specified which ones), as well as private collections.

In partnership with La Caixa Pushkin is also considering the possibility of holding exhibitions of Henri Matisse and Joan Miró. In turn, the foundation in 2021, plans to show the exhibition in Spain on the basis of the famous Egyptian collection of the Pushkin Museum.
