Famous sculptures of winged lions, griffins on Bank Bridge in Saint Petersburg dismantled and sent for restoration.


The lions stood on the site of 200 years and never left the bridge.

Bank Bridge - a pedestrian bridge across the Griboyedov Canal in the Central district of St. Petersburg, Kazan and connects the island Spassky. It is a monument of architecture bridge construction of the first quarter of the XIX century, one of the three surviving pedestrian chain bridge in St. Petersburg (along with Lion and Pochtamtsky Bridge). It was built in 1825-1826 under the project of engineer Wilhelm von Tretter. Span consists of two metal chains, pendants and paintings.
