State Museum of Fine Arts named after AS Pushkin begins the year with the opening of the exhibition ""Caprichos". Goya and Dali".

The exhibition will showcase the work of two graphic series of etchings "Caprichos" by Francisco Goya from the collection of the Pushkin Museum and the "Caprichos by Goya," created by Salvador Dali - from the collection of Boris Fridman.

Caprichos (ital. Capricci; Fr. whims; Spanish Caprichos ..) - a special genre which has developed in the art of Western Europe at the turn of XVI-XVII centuries, involving the creation of visual art, music or poetry series of moods, fads or fancies combined kakoy-libo theme.

The exhibition includes 41 engravings and 41 Goya engraving them with relevant Dali. Reprints of the XIX century with the original boards in 1799 were carried out in the Goya etchings with aquatint. While the work of Salvador Dalí made in the technique of etching, dry point and poshuara and overprinting heliogravures with original etchings by Goya.

One of the peaks of the graphic art of Francisco Goya is the creation of a series of etchings "Caprichos." The first sketches for the series "Caprichos", the artist created in 1793. The final series of graphics has been issued to them in 1799. Goya himself called the series "Collection of prints on the fantasy stories"

The principal feature of the work of Dali with a graphic series is the replacement of all kinds of images, data, Goya, to the comments made by Dali, which is not so much illustrate subjects as asking another line of interpretation, complementing fantasy Goya surrealistic visions Dali, acceding after almost two centuries a kind of dialogue with great predecessor.
