The exhibition "Ivan Aivazovsky. By the 200-th anniversary" opened in the Benois Wing of the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.


The exhibition features 54 paintings of the artist, which are in the Russian Museum collection. Also in the anniversary exhibition includes paintings from the "Peterhof" Museum-Reserve meeting Museum "Tsarskoye Selo", the Central Naval Museum and the Sea Cadet Corps. A special section of the exhibition, which will showcase 200 works make up the memorial and photographs.


"The basis of the exhibition will be a well-known works and unfamiliar viewers of Aivazovsky from private collections, as well as different surroundings, constituting the context of the activities of Aivazovsky as a painter of the Naval Staff. According to the composition, design and semantic accents exhibition at the Russian Museum will differ significantly from the exposure opened in July and November at the Tretyakov gallery in Moscow ", - stated in the message of the museum.


Exhibition for the 200th anniversary of his birth will last until March 10, 2017.
