"Gods and Heroes of Ancient Greece" arrived in Moscow - exhibition of the same name opens in Moscow

The central event of the Year of Greece in Russia and the Year of Russia in Greece was the exhibition "Gods and heroes of ancient Greece." It was opened in Moscow in the State Historical Museum.

- In Russia came to the values ​​that the whole world knows, - said the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. - Including exhibits that never left Hellas. This is a special sign of confidence of the Greeks to the Russians, and that mutual trust - the key event of the Year of Russia in cross-Greece and Greece to Russia.

The exhibition includes over 130 works of art, familiar from school textbooks, films and books. The exhibits are all kinds of art - sculpture, ceramics, metalwork and coins. Unique values ​​presented pillars of Greek culture - National Archaeological Museum in Athens, the Acropolis Museum, the Museum of the Ancient Agora, epigraphy and numismatics Museum, Museum of Cycladic Art, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki Archaeological Museum of Dion.

- Thousand-year tradition of ancient Greek art is so varied, that form significant general cultural foundation of modern society, - said Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi. - After all, those values ​​were formed in ancient Greece, which today we call democratic. And the reality of ancient democracy in Russia now.

The exhibition will be open until February 15, 2017.
