The painting "Battle of Sinop" by Alexei Bogolyubov not exhibited nearly a quarter century. The Central Naval Museum showed a restored painting by Alexei Bogolyubov "Battle of Sinope," written in 1860. Even in our time, in the 90s, the painting was severely damaged, it was flooded with hot water. By his life returned experts of the Tretyakov Gallery. They worked on the rescue of the landscape for eight months.

 

"Of course, the beginning of a process that was difficult to stop - and settling of cloth, and most importantly, that dries the canvas painting is almost torn off the stretcher, there was peeling paint layer," - said the chief curator of the Central Naval Museum Natalya Shishkova.

 

Cloth cleared, removed the old layer of yellowed varnish and were amazed at how the picture has changed. We opened new parts, which previously only could be seen, for example, Turkish slipper or animal figures. It has become apparent, and the artist's signature. The canvas Bogolyubov - the only product in which the Battle of Sinope is shown by the Turkish coast. By the way, the picture now hangs on the site Aivazovsky painting of the same name - "Battle of Sinop", is famous canvas seascape located at the Tretyakov Gallery. When he returns, both works will be located on one wall.
