There was a moment when artist Victor Popkov revealed to me the meaning of composition in a painting, its force and its tremendous possibilities for affecting the viewer; since then, for me genre painting has been the main form in painting. In painting there exist for me three qualities which are needed for producing a successful picture: its conception, composition, and an attractive color principle. But the main stimulus is love. Love for what you're painting and for the process of painting".

Yuri Nikolaevich Popkov. 1954 A member of Artists Union of Russia since 1983. He was born in Mytishchi, Moscow region. He graduated from the Moscow Academy "Memory of 1905 year", where was a student of V.E.Popkov, M.M.Bulgakova, O.A. Avsian, A.M.Dubinchik, U.M.Kaprushina.
