Victor I. Markin was born in Vladimir near the old mansion house «Bogolubovo». The genetic connection with the history of Vladimir with its river valleys, thick forests and ancient monuments determined Victor’s artistic future. It is architecture of Vladimir and Moscow area, Russian nature, people who live here that inspire the painter to create his works.
For the last 30 years Victor Markin has been living and working in Zelenograd (a town near Moscow). He has taken long walks around the town and depicted the most beautiful of them – the neighborhood of Krukovo, Dedeshino and other near-by villages. Some of the ancient buildings, churches, forests can be seen only on his pictures, full of some wise sadness typical only of Victor.
Victor Markin’s paintings are tender and emotional. He doesn’t copy the nature, but creates his own special world, some new reality, an impression from associating with nature. Victor is a true landscape painter and he works in open air a lot trying to depict constantly changing light and shade. The colours on his paintings seem to shimmer and sparkle. Houses, trees, the sky on Victor’s paintings look dignified and mysterious.
But you can also see images of people on Victor’s landscapes: fishermen near a pond, an old man and a woman at a lopsided house, a woman going to church – this is a gentle reminder that all that is a part of real life, noisy and restless. Looking at Victor Markin’s works make you feel fascinated.
Victor Markin was born in Vladimir in 1947. In 1966 he entered Moscow art school “In commemoration of the revolution of 1905”. In 1971 he became a student of Moscow Commercial Art College (former Strogonov Art College) and graduated in 1977. When he went to the art school “In commemoration of the revolution of 1905” he started participating in different art exhibitions.
