«Do not keep within the limits, but surpass them »: it is just the conception that guides Vasily Motornov’s work. This approach appears in the artist’s portraits and rustic paintings, as well in his pieces of art on the philosophical and religious-mystical themes.
Vasily Motornov combines in his work the Russian school’s paintings technique and its classical subjects with his own original syncretic style which suggest some elements of the symbolism and the surrealism. From his landscapes representing the Moscow's suburb rural land to his works on biblical and philosophical subjects, the artist’s art put some important existential questions to the spectator, who is invited to a reflection on the essence of the being and the human’s place in the Universe.

The Creative Biography
V. Motornov was born on the 18th September, 1960 in Krasnoye, a village situated in the Moscow region near Podolsk. He starts his art education in the Troitsk secondary art school (Moscow), he graduated from in 1974. In 1984, V. Motorov graduates from Moscow veterinary academy. The artist participates regularly in exhibitions in Moscow and its region. Since 2018 the artist starts working with the ceramics sculpture.
