The Artwork Description

The painting depicts a view of Palace Embankment in St. Petersburg. Poet K.N.Batyushkov admiringly wrote: "Now look at the waterfront, on these huge palaces each other grander! In these houses, one more beautiful than the other! ... How majestic and beautiful this part of the city! "On the right bank of the Neva seen the Marble Palace with the official body, hereinafter - the house and the palace princes Baryatinsky Rear Admiral H. de Ribas, founder of Odessa. Closes panorama Summer Garden with its famous wall. Foreground of the picture takes a wall of the fortress. Turning to the urban landscape, Alekseev created in a picture perfect harmonious world. Water, air and architecture merge into one indivisible whole. Poetry and noble restrained delight fill the landscape. Contemporary artist wrote enthusiastically about the "harmony and transparency, koi constitute the main advantage of his brush."
