Impressionism is an art movement, representatives of which by fixing their fleeting impressions strived at a natural depiction of the world in all its movement and changeability. It originated within a group of Paris-based painters in the end of 1860. Modern impressionists carry on developing the style and basic principles of impressionism in pictorial art.
