“Talents that God endows people with are as diverse as trees with which He adorns the Earth and each of them has its own peculiarities and bears fruit characteristic only of it...”
Francois de La Rochefoucauld
Contemplation of the object, ironical attitude to it, its admiration but without worshipping; object being not a dead substance but a creature possessing reason.
The complicated surface of paintings’ canvas originates from multi-layer lacquer application. Thanks to the technique when the lower layers are translucent and glimmering, the picture turns out to be very deep thus meeting the artist’s demands. The color pitch of many works is developed trough monochrome scale of half-tints that refine the material sense of the color to the level of musical sounds.
The possibility to express a mood, symbolic image, idea with the help of objects, arouses my great interest to such a creative search that was started by J. de Kiriko, founder of “metaphysical painting”.
Masters of “metaphysical painting” (J. de Kiriko, F. de Pissis, K. Carra, M. Campilli, F. Casoratti, J. Morandi who grouped around “Valeri Plasticci” magazine in 1919-1922) basically shared neo-classical tendencies of 1920s trying to make an impression of melancholy wilderness and scaring stiffness of the world alienated from the man, to reveal some mysterious, magic sense in real objects torn off routine ties.
I will happy ifmy creative activities make a new contribution to the school of “metaphysical painting”.
With deep respect to spectators,
