Mikhail Vasilevich Gorshunov was born in 1958 in Kazan. In 1989, he graduated from Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, Faculty of Painting.
The artist follows Fantastic Realism and Surrealism traditions.
He is a member of the Board of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Member of the International Arts Fund. Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Culture and Art. Member of the Society for Cultural and Business Cooperation with India. Honorary Member of the Russian Science Club.
The artist's works are kept in the collections of Mars Gallery of Modern Art (Moscow), House of Burganov State Museum (Moscow), the Art Museum in Podberezov (Lyubcha Castle, the Republic of Slovakia), Soldatenkov Museum (Maloyaroslavets), as well as in private collections in the Czech Republic, Germany, England, USA, and Luxembourg. He is referred to in the Lexicon of Fantastic Artist Encyclopedia (2nd Edition. Austria) as a fantastic realist - a representative of Russia.
Mikhail Gorshunov has been participating in republican, all-union, all-Russian, and international art exhibitions since 1980. The artist's solo exhibitions were held in various museums and show rooms.
Mikhail Gorshunov is the 1st degree laureate of Viktor Popkov Competition. For his creative achievements, he has been awarded the Gold and Silver Medals of the Russian Academy of Arts, Gratitude from the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation and Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The artist lives and works in Moscow.
