12 February 2019, Tuesday

Yandex has prepared statistics on search queries of Russians associated with museums, landmarks and exhibitions, in honor of the coming World Guide Day (celebrated on February 21).

Ratings were compiled based on data obtained from January 26, 2018 to January 26, 2019. The popularity of requests was estimated by the 100 point scale: the higher the request frequency, the higher the score. The company stressed that it makes sense to compare the indicators only within a single rating.

The three most popular museums include the Tretyakov Gallery (100 points), the Pushkin Museum (78 points) and the Darwin Museum (35 points) located in Moscow. In Yandex, they noted that the Tretyakov Gallery was most interested in October, when the exhibition of works by the artist Arkhip Kuinji opened (held from October 6 to February 17). The peak of interest in the Pushkin Museum was on March 29, the opening date of the exhibition "The Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Masterpieces of the Leiden Collection", as well as on July 24 - the first day of the exhibition "From Tiepolo to Canaletto and Guardi." On average, for a specified period, the Tretyakov Gallery was searched 2.1 times more often than the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Pushkin.

In the ranking of monuments in the first place is the St. Petersburg Bronze Horseman (100 points), on the second - the Ekaterinburg Monument to the keyboard (99 points), and the Moscow Monument to Minin and Pozharsky (86 points) closes the top three. If we talk about temples and monasteries, then most of all users of Yandex were interested in St. Isaac’s Cathedral in St. Petersburg (100 points), the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (76 points), and the Cathedral of St. Basil (67 points) in Moscow.

The exhibition of paintings by Kuindzhi led the corresponding rating, followed by the exposition "Vasily Vereshchagin" (57 points) in the Tretyakov Gallery (from March 7 to July 15). In third place was the exhibition of the British graffiti artist Banksy in the Central House of Artists in Moscow (44 points). Banksy himself said that he had nothing to do with the exhibition.

In Yandex, they also analyzed which cities, countries and regions are most often searched for in combination with the word “excursion”. The top three included Moscow (100 points), St. Petersburg (44 points) and Turkey (21 points). Also looking for excursions in Phuket (19 points) and in Pattaya (16 points).
