In the Pushkin State Museum on Prechistenka an exposition was opened, in which more than 300 portrait images of the poet. Paintings, drawings and sculptures for the exhibition were provided by the leading collections of the country.
Never before under one roof were so many portraits of the poet. They - about three hundred, and even sculpture, graphics. Twenty-five museums have opened their storerooms. These works are from the Pushkin Museum on the Moika. On miniature Xavier de Maistre, a family friend, Pushkin - three years. Here thirteen - he is a student. It is still not clear who the author of the watercolor is: Sergey Chirikov, a drawing teacher, or Orest Kiprensky, who at that time was writing to the inhabitants of the lyceum. Pushkin - a dandy, flaunting a hat, immediately after his marriage in Tsarskoye Selo, literally glows with happiness. Sketches, sketches and the famous portrait of the poet in the robe Basil Tropinin.
“Artists complained that Pushkin was so alive, his expression changed for a minute, that it was almost impossible to capture it, to depict it. But this way, when every artist could see Pushkin’s face for some second, especially in his lifetime portraits, he was able to reflect, here, at this exhibition, we first come across this amazing way, ”said the director of the All-Russian Museum A.S. Pushkin Sergey Nekrasov.
Many artists painted portraits of Pushkin after death. Everyone has his own. Ilya Repin and Ivan Aivazovsky in Pushkin’s Farewell to the Sea compared the poet with the elements. Aivazovsky wrote a few more pictures. He copied Pushkin’s face from portraits of other artists. Not many people know that in this picture his close friend Pavel Nashchokin posed in the robe of the poet. In Soviet times, writing the “sun of Russian poetry” was not easy. Pyotr Konchalovsky had to close the poet’s bare feet in the painting “Pushkin in Mikhailovsky”. The Arts Council considered this an unacceptable liberty.
“To get together and see the riot of colors, the names of artists, the most diverse Pushkin, who looks at us, smiling, laughing, and sadly. This has never happened before, ”explained the director of the State Museum A.S. Pushkin Evgeny Bogatyrev.
This installation of Alexander Konov in the style of Andy Warhol beats established canons. Pushkin in the style of pop art looks natural.
“Prefabricated exhibitions are always a big problem, a big responsibility in order to assemble a single installation, a single exposition solution. It just dictated the possibility of the emergence of Andy Warhol as a possible participant, another artist who could also throw out his creative inspiration in order to create another version of the great Russian poet, ”says artist Alexander Konov.
Pushkin's Duel with Dantes by Alexey Naumov is the final point of the exhibition. In 1884, Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich bought a picture of the artist and presented it to the Pushkin Museum on the Moika. This exhibition is the first project that starts the year of the 220th anniversary of the birth of Pushkin.
