Waiting of “Scream”: the exhibition “Edvard Munch. Dance of Life "will open in the Tretyakov Gallery in April 2018

More than 60 works will be shown at the first exhibition in Russia by the artist Edvard Munch, the guests of the exhibition will see, in particular, unique photos taken by him, as well as one of the first versions of "The Scream", told the RIA Novosti general director of the Tretyakov Gallery Zelfira Tregulova.


Norwegian expressionist Edvard Munch had a greater influence on contemporary art, most of his work is stored in the Munch Museum in Oslo, as well as in the National Gallery.


"In January, we open an exhibition in Oslo at the Munch Museum, this is an exchange exhibition. From the Munch Museum we bring its fantastic exhibition - the first in Russia. The famous painting" The Scream "will be in the very first version - it is color graphics, but it makes an incredible impression. In addition to the “Scream”, there will be another 62 canvases, graphics and vintage photos taken by Munch himself, ”said Tregulova.


The most famous picture of Munch "Scream", reflecting the theme of loneliness and alienation, was written in four versions. Two of them are stored in the Munch Museum, the third - in the national gallery. The fourth version was sold at auction in 2012 for a record 119.9 million dollars. Repeatedly canvas tried to steal the attackers. Pictures managed to return to the museum, but with some damage.


The exhibition “Edvard Munch. Dance of Life ”will open in the Tretyakov Gallery on April 15, 2019.
