On April 4, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art opens a unique exhibition "Heritage of the Great Steppe: Masterpieces of Jewelry Art", which will present the culture and art of nomads from the collection of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The symbol of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Golden Man" will be presented at the exhibition.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s an archaeological sensation occurred in the vicinity of Almaty: the remains of the Saka tsar, the "Golden Man", which later became the symbol of Kazakhstan, were discovered in the Issyk burial mound, which was studied by the eminent archaeologist Kemal Akishev.

A priceless find was dubbed "Kazakh Tutankhamun" and recognized as the discovery of the century. Gold jewelry from the crown of the ancient ruler of the steppes - winged horses-tulparas - became part of the national coat of arms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Golden Man sculpture was erected on Independence Square in Almaty.

At the exhibition in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art, one can see the reconstruction of the Golden Man in dress embroidered with gold plaques, in a headpiece of a special conical shape adorned with gold plates in the form of golden arrows, snow leopards, argali, horses and birds, and a collection of archaeological finds of the era of the early Iron Age (V - IV centuries BC), which accompanied the burial of this noble Saka young warrior (according to archaeologists his age is 17 - 18 years).

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan holds an extensive collection (over a thousand subjects) of the ethnography of the peoples of Central Asia and the North Caucasus. More than sixty samples of high jewelry art from these funds were brought to Moscow. The public is presented with jewelry of the XIX - the middle of the XX centuries, various decorations, details of a female and man's suit, separate subjects of household culture.
The exhibition "Legacy of the Great Steppe: masterpieces of jewelry art" demonstrates one of the most vivid and impressive traditions of the richest heritage of the steppe culture of Eurasia.
