The collection of the artist Ilya Glazunov, which he bequeathed to Moscow, will later go on display at the Museum of the Estates of Russia, the head of the department of culture of the capital, Alexander Kibovsky, told RIA Novosti on Saturday.


"The collection will be part of the Estate Museum, a part of the museum fund, it is unique," he said.


Kibovsky stressed that such a gift was a surprise for the city.


Member of the Academy of Arts of Russia, People's Artist of the USSR Ilya Glazunov July 9, 2017 died in Moscow from cardiac arrest. He was 87 years old. Glazunov - one of the most famous Russian artists, painter, book illustrator, stage designer, author of more than 3 thousand works. He was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery on 11 July.


Glazunov was awarded many international and Russian awards, was a member of the Royal Academies of Arts in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​was awarded the gold medal "For Contribution to World Culture and Civilization" (UNESCO), the Order of the Reverend Sergei Radonezhsky (1999) and the Reverend Andrey Rublev (2010) Commander of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. He also founded the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
