An exhibition "Thailand through the eyes of modern Russian painters" opened in Bangkok

The art exhibition featuring Thailand through the eyes of contemporary Russian painters, graphic artists and craftsmen opened today in the Thai capital of Bangkok.


At the exhibition "Suvannapphum - Golden Land", which is located in three rooms in the Bangkok exhibition and gallery complex River City, presents more than 150 works by contemporary Russian artists created in Thailand during creative art expeditions in 2015 and 2016. Pictures and graphics of Russian masters captured the landscapes of Thailand, Buddhist temples, ancient architecture. There are among the exhibits of the exhibition and written by a Russian artist, including those who know what it is.


The exhibition, named in honor of the legendary Golden Country of Suvannaphum from the ancient Indian epos "Ramayana", whose name is often used as a poetic image of Thailand, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the development of Russian-Thai diplomatic relations.


"All the works that you see at this exhibition are not photographic or mirror reflections of the Thai realities, but a display of the artistic impressions of each of the masters, and in each such form:" the Wigen view of the artist, full of love for this country, " Ceremonial opening ceremony of the exhibition, which was held on Wednesday evening, Russian Ambassador to Thailand Cyril Barsky.


The president of the Bureau of Creative Expeditions, the famous Russian artist Vladimir Anisimov, the organizer and participant of the exhibition, also addressed the guests of the ceremony.


"This idea was preceded by a long and sometimes exhausting work. Despite the fact that we never worked, we continued to work. I want to thank all the sponsors of this project, all those who helped us and provided our life and work in Thailand during the expeditions, "he said.


"I want to say a big thank you to the Ambassador of Russia in Thailand, Cyril Barsky, for the great idea to bring famous Russian artists to Thailand and create this unique collection of works, as well as to thank the staff of the Russian embassy for their constant help and support," the artist added.


The exhibition "Suvannapphum - Golden Land" will last until February 20, 2018. During the exhibition, Russian artists will hold master classes of the international Russian lacquer miniature for those wishing.
