Visitors to the exhibition "Wives", which opened today in the Museum of Russian Impressionism, will see unique canvases depicting the spouses of great Russian artists from the collections of regional museums and private collections, as well as learn interesting details of their destinies in an extensive educational program.

The exposition "Wives" will unite more than 40 portraits of beloved great Russian artists, such as Ilya Repin, Boris Kustodiev, Igor Grabar and many others. Before the guests of the exhibition will appear an extensive gallery of images: images of Olga Trubnikova, the faithful companion of Valentin Serov, who devoted herself to her family and husband, actress Nadezhda Komarovskaya, civil wife Konstantin Korovin, or Nadezhda Zabela-Vrubel, who for many years served as a source of inspiration for Mikhail Vrubel.
According to the director of the museum Julia Petrova, work on the project began early last year. During this time, the specialists conducted a serious research and art work, preparing a truly unique exposition, which included paintings from the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Russian Museum, regional museums and private collections.

According to her, each of the portraits presented at the exhibition is interesting both from the artistic and from the scientific point of view, since it is possible to trace them through the development of Russian art from the end of XIX to the middle of the XX century, and at the same time to understand , how the position of the woman changed.

"Almost every heroine has been able to find unofficial information, for each picture is fate, otherwise you will not say, we will tell these stories at the exhibition." We also published a catalog where too many materials were collected - both accompanying photographs and archival information " - explained the agency interlocutor.
Petrova noted that the exposition is complemented by aromatic associations: before turning your attention to the picture, every visitor will be able to listen to the fragrance that is stored under a special cloak.

The founder of the Museum of Russian Impressionism, Boris Mintz, at the opening of the exposition noted that the museum team embodies the boldest ideas and finds unique works that demonstrate the diversity of not only impressionism, but also painting in general.

"In the new exposition, each artist in his manner expresses his attitude towards the woman who was his muse and wife, I think it's fantastically interesting," he said.

Specially for the exhibition, the Museum of Russian Impressionism will prepare an extensive educational program - master classes for adults and children, creative meetings, lectures, as well as a number of events timed to the holidays - February 14 and March 8.
