After selling Leonardo da Vinci's "The Savior of the World" for a record $ 450 million at Christie's auction, the American agency of satirical news The Onion spread fake news that the buyer of the canvas feels deceived. Allegedly he got the picture without a frame, although he expected that it was included in the purchase price.
The comic publication widely spread over social networks, and soon the company IKEA decided to beat it in its advertising. The Swedish furniture manufacturer offered the new owner of the painting to purchase a frame from the IKEA catalog. On the new advertising post, the canvas of the Italian artist is placed in the Virserum frame, the cost of which is only about $ 10. Thus, the company demonstrated the opportunity to save at least a frame for the canvas of the Italian artist.
The painting "The Savior of the World" was sold on November 16. Its value of $ 450 million was a record for ever exhibited for sale of works of art. Today it is the only work of Da Vinci, which is privately owned.
