Strengthening cultural ties between the two countries is the leitmotif of the Week of Culture of Saudi Arabia, which is taking place these days in the capital. Key was the exhibition "The Kingdom - a look from the inside" in the Moscow's New Manezh. It introduces the Russian public to the culture of the kingdom.
The exhibition was opened by the Ministers of Culture of Russia and Saudi Arabia. Vladimir Medinsky was cordially invited to make a trip to the most famous places of the kingdom. True, only virtually.
The exhibition project "The Kingdom - a look from the inside" shows Saudi Arabia the way it wants it to be perceived from the outside. Therefore, the selection of authors and works was carefully studied.
The right to represent the country fell to 9 artists, sculptors, photographers who show the country's culture in all its diversity. The exhibition consists of four thematic sections. "Spiritual" is perhaps the central theme: giant beads, prayer rugs, made of metal chains, images of important places for Islam, such as Mecca.
The new manege barely accommodated all members of the delegation who arrived at the opening of the exhibition. Some came with small children. In the next two days in Moscow, there will be screenings of films from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, performances of musical collectives.
We regaled here, too, in a royal way. One of the capital's restaurants cooked traditional Arabic cuisine. So, the aroma of the East will continue to hang over Moscow for a long time.
