Novorossiysk Biennale, held since 2009 at the sites of museums and galleries of Novorossiysk, this time will open on September 22 in the complex of buildings of the former printing house "Angar".

The exhibition will for the first time bring together not only Russian, but also foreign artists, and the venue will be two production workshops 75 and 20 meters long. According to the idea of the organizers, this will allow the participants not to limit themselves in the amount of work and their quantity.

The theme of the Biennale is "Home". The concept suggests artists "to express their attitude to what is happening in our world - our common home and interpret through creativity their idea of it." The first stage of the competitive selection was held by 65 artists from Russia, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Turkey and Kazakhstan. Present your work was possible in one of seven areas: painting, graphics (including a poster and a caricature), sculpture, arts and crafts, installation, mediaart, photography.

Igor Dorofeyev, founder of the Museum of Fine Arts of Novorossiysk and founder of the Biennale, said in the TANR commentary that within the framework of the festival, negotiations will be held with representatives of local businesses who will be invited to join the biennial's board of trustees and help in the formation of its trust fund. "For us, this Biennale is a turning point. We finally came to the format that was searched from the very beginning. In the printing house, I led the publishing business, but I refused it last year, having decided to create an art space here. This is a risky, but important step, because young artists looking for modern forms, go to Moscow, Peter, go abroad. The hangar will be the only space in the Krasnodar Territory where the artist will be able to experiment, do something new, "said Dorofeev.

Together with the Museum of Fine Arts of Novorossiysk, the organizers of the Biennale were the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnodar Territory, the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, the Southern Branch of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Creative Union of the Kuban and others. Upon completion of the exhibition, the work of the winners will be supplemented by a meeting of the Novorossiysk Museum of Fine Arts.
