The exhibition-intervention Homo Virtualis, in which the artists of the art group Recycle Group reflected their perception of art in the media era, opens today at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Pushkin Museum).

"Digital technologies and social networks are increasingly invading the everyday life of a person, transforming his view of the world and classical art, creating a modern viewer's approach to life, in which he does not distinguish between high and low, unique and replicated. It is important whether it is a person, a masterpiece of art or a brick wall - all are equal to the lens of the smartphone, "the museum stated.

In the halls of the art of the Ancient World, the Middle Ages, as well as among the Renaissance sculptures, a permanent exposition within the framework of the project will be placed 16 objects. They are executed with the use of augmented reality, therefore, in order to fully experience the idea of the exhibition, you will need to download a special mobile application.

"The artists of the group ask the visitors a question: what can the authority, influence, popularity of an individual artist or the whole museum be measured by the citation index, the number of subscribers in social networks, the number of likes and selfies made against the background of the works?" The organizers noted.

The curators of the project were Deputy Head of the Department of Art of Europe and America of the XIX-XX centuries, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts Alexander Danilov and Polina Mogilina from the Triumph Gallery. You can see the exposition until 20 August.

Recycle Group was founded in 2008 by artists Andrei Blokhin and Georgy Kuznetsov. The art group is actively exhibited at various venues of contemporary art in France, Italy, the United Kingdom, the USA and Belgium. In 2017, their project "Blocked content" was presented in the Russian pavilion in the framework of the 57th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art.
