"GAZON NEXT" became part of the exhibition of the Austrian pavilion at one of the most famous international exhibitions of contemporary art - the Venice Biennale, the press service of the GAZ Group reported.

Naturally, the question immediately arises: what is the Russian mid-tonnage cargo doing at an art exhibition. The fact is that GAZ Group acted as an official partner of the Austrian pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale. And the engineers of the Gorky Automobile Plant embodied the intention of the Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, designing and making the installation for the exhibition.

The truck stands vertically on the hood, a ladder is built into its body, through which visitors can climb to the observation platform with an area of 3.12 square meters, located in the upper part of the body. It can comfortably accommodate 10-12 people.

The total height of the structure is 9.7 m. Its weight, taking into account additional elements - fortifications, staircases and fences - reaches almost 12 tons. About half a year it took about the manufacturing of this art object - from the beginning of the design works to the transfer of the object of the studio of Erwin Wurm.

In the process of creating such a truck, the gas people had to solve an unusual design problem, integrating the ladder and viewing platform into the car's design, while completely preserving the appearance of the truck. Another challenge was the installation of the machine on the bumper without the use of side external supports. In passing, the design of the exhibit took into account the peculiarities of Venice's climate with strong wind and high humidity.

For Erwin Wurm this is not the first such project: earlier it was already noted by atr-objects in the form of curved cars.

In this form, "GAZon Next" will not stop for one month: the forum of contemporary art will be held in Venice from May 13 to November 26, 2017.
