The exhibition of works by the representative of the so-called "naive art", the famous artist Katya Medvedeva opens in Moscow, in the elite building of the Petrovsky Passage. The exposition is held within the framework of the Open Art Festival "Cherry Forest".

Katya Medvedeva has a difficult fate. She is a pupil of an orphanage, and in painting she is self-taught. Before becoming an artist, she worked as a weaver, a nurse in a kindergarten, a postman. I started drawing at almost 40 years old.

But three months later her first exhibition was held, and after 20 years her paintings were hung in Paris in a hall with the works of Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse. "Purely Russian talent," - wrote about her admiring Chagall.

"Russian nugget!" - critics exclaimed, and collectors lined up for her works, which are now in many state museums and hundreds of private collections in Russia, Germany, the United States and France.

Retrospective "Katya Medvedeva: The Art of a Pure Soul", launched in the Petrovsky Passage, is timed to the 80th anniversary of the artist and 40 years she devoted to painting.

The exhibition is held with the support of BOSCO DI CILIEGI, it included works by Katya Medvedeva from ten private collections. It is a painting by oil, acrylic and tempera, watercolors, works on velvet and silk.

According to Katya, the choice of technique when working on a painting depends on the theme of the work and the mood: "When I'm business - I use acrylic, when I think of heaven - the tempera is in my hands, and if I want to talk heart to heart - I write by oil."

To the exhibition a catalog with reproductions of 150 works from private collections is published. Visitors to the Petrovsky Passage can also purchase some of the presented works by Medvedev, whose retrospective will be shown until May 31.
