The Ministry of Culture is preparing a large exhibition project dedicated to the creativity of Nicholas Roerich, the press service of the ministry reported. It is planned that the exhibition will be held in the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" in the middle of December and will unite about 200 works by the artist from the State Museum of Oriental Art, the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum and the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York. The exhibition will accompany a series of lectures on the contribution of Roerich to the preservation of the Russian and world cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Culture was also informed that in May this year the Internet portal dedicated to the Roerich heritage will start functioning. Its launch is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the signing of the Roerich Pact, an international treaty on the protection of artistic and scientific institutions and historical monuments both in military and peacetime. The principles of the document signed in 1935, subsequently entered into the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

Recall that on March 7 in the International Center of the Roerichs (ICR) in Moscow was searched. The spetsnaz officers seized about 200 works of Nikolai and Svyatoslav Roerich from the museum fund, donated by the ICR to his former sponsor - the chairman of the board of "Master Bank" Boris Bulochnik. The leadership of the ICR believes that the last search was initiated by the Ministry of Culture in order to evict the organization from the Lopukhins estate in Maly Znamensky Lane.
