The painting by Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) "Construction №95" was sold by auction in the British capital for 3.65 million pounds (; 4.5 million).
Founded in 1919, the product was sold by the auction house Sotheby's in the framework of the so-called Russian Trading paintings and objects of decorative art.
As pointed out in the auction house, the painting "is undoubtedly the most important work of the artist, put up for auction since the auction of the legendary Russian avant-garde and Soviet contemporary art, which Sotheby's held in Moscow in 1988".
The amount that has been paid for the painting exceeded the original estimated at 2.5-3.5 million pounds ($ 3.1 million to $ 4.4 million).
Currently trading patterns continue. In the second session, after lunch, collectors will be offered works of arts and crafts.
In addition to Sotheby's in "Russian Week" in London, traditionally held in May-June and November-December, attended by Christie's auction house, MacDougall's and Bonhams.
