The scandal surrounding the exhibition of American photographer Jock Sturges at the Center Lumiere brothers in Moscow has gone beyond the legal field, said special representative of Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi. It is reported by TASS.

 

"The scandal around the exhibition at the Center Lumiere brothers, from my point of view, has gone beyond the legal field. There can no organization on their own close or open art projects ", - said Shvydkoi.

 

According to him, such actions can only be carried out within the framework of compliance with legal procedures. As Shvydkoi emphasized street democracy is dangerous for society and the state, and its methods are all the more prohibitive when it comes to such a delicate matter, as a culture.

However Shvydkoi said that anyone in Russia can appeal to the Prosecutor General and the relevant departments, so that they, if they deem it necessary, initiated an investigation on the public presentation of various works of art, violating public morality.

Shvydkoi expressed confidence that the Prosecutor General's Office will heed the words of Senator Elena Mizulina and the Ombudsman for Children and Anna Kuznetsova will consider the matter in due course.

 

"But this kind of actions should be within the legal field. And no power methods of influence in this case are illegal, "- said special envoy of the Russian president.

 

He also said that the decision to close the exhibition the gallery owners is understandable and explainable.

 

"As a father and a grandfather, of course, I oppose the propaganda of pedophilia. But in this case, as the person the job, I'm in favor to act lawfully. And this applies to all - and to those who are satisfied with the exhibition, and to those who illegally tries to close "- said Shvydkoi.

 

Earlier it was reported that Roskomnadzor did not see the exhibition Jock Sturges photographs at the Center Lumiere brothers.

 

The exhibition "Without confusion" of the famous American photographer Jock Sturges was closed under pressure from the organization "Officers of Russia".
